I like to work with contrasts in both the visible result and the storyline. Placing the temporary against the “permanent”. Letting the fleeting fight with the eternal. Letting the fast food society stand out against the finesse. Sustainable craftsmanship against the disposable. In my mind I always know who I want to see as the winner in that fight.
In concrete terms, on the one hand I have created a tangible and wearable work, in which sheep wool in its raw form is mixed with synthetic filling, which is ubiquitous today (think of plush bears). You can felt wool, but not the fiberfill, the fibers are too smooth for that. So I looked for another way to process the two. That is how I ended up with soluble fleece between which I stuck both materials and stitched them shut. On the other hand, I have made an audiovisual work of it, in which a main character fights his way to the pure. On his way he comes into contact with the fleeting. He is tempted to choose the path of convenience but continues to strive for the genuine, on the path of craftsmanship.
The short film is filmed both digitally and analogously on film. By using both forms, this gives extra power to the entire idea above.
